I have been running VirtualBox on several Ubuntu hosts for some time now and have only been disappointed when the video from my new Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 webcam would not work. I tried it on several different machines with the same result. The camera appears to turn on but the video only displayed a black screen. Follow up: That changed after I installed the recent release of VirtualBox 3.0. I have the trial version of Windows 7 running as a guest on my Kubuntu box. I had installed the Logitech webcam software to see if Windows 7 would make a difference and wasn't surprised when it didn't. I tried again after installing the VirtualBox upgrade not expecting much and was encouraged when something other than black appeared. The video was washed out and didn't look very good. I opened up the controls and pressed the restore defaults button and WOW, what a great picture. I also re-installed the QuickCam software on the Windows XP client and was resended with the same results. ![]() |
