As of this date eighteen teams have signed up for the Google Lunar X PRIZE competition. The Google Lunar X PRIZE is a $30 million competition for the first privately funded team to send a robot to the moon, travel 500 meters and transmit video, images and data back to the Earth. The teams come from all walks of life and each with varied experiences and ideas and each has a unique plan for getting to the lunar surface.
